Yesterday I ventured to the mall on the "shuttle bus" provides by the uni. I'm pretty sure their top speed is 10mph and that all of the buses are near death.
Either way, it got me to the mall, which is mahusive and full of clothes shops and luckily one supermarket!
Pick and pay (which seems like the Morrison's of supermarkets over here) was an interesting experience. They don't have the little dividery thingys to separate out your shopping, and the belts are about 2 feet long! Not enough space for more than one persons shopping... Appaza you just load it on anyway, otherwise the person behind you assumes that you have already loaded (or maybe that was just this one lady...)
You also don't pack your own shopping. The lady actually laughed at me when I said "it's alright I can do it" clearly missed a social cue there!
I did manage to get the essentials though, and it pained me to have to purchase instant coffee, but beggars can't be choosers and I don't have a cafetiere. Bad sad times.
Luckily I was probably asleep by like 4.30 yesterday, so many many luscious sleeps, only interrupted by being woken up cos I was cold! However, a long sleeved top, hoodie an socks fixed that (I could hear my brain saying "I told you so" all night because I put a sleeping bag on my packing list and ten crossed it off as extra useless weight. Silly rabbit)
Today I have had a lazy morning, with coffee and almost Internet on the wits wifi. It doesn't seem to like blogging though, so this is on my mobli! Plans do today (in a bit) are to pay for my accommodation. And then meet the Dr in charge at 15h for orientation and name badges and all that jazz!
